Hypacoustic is a significant departure from traditional cinema speakers.
Key technical information is required to understand how it works.

From emotion to innovation
This system uses the same enclosures for all channels. Only subtle changes are made between the fronts and the surrounds.
The topology creates a uniform sonic environment, which is critical from a psycho-acoustic perspective.
All the 8" Bass/mids, Mids and Tweeters are exclusive to Hypacoustic and are unlike traditional cinema speakers. They have been designed to work as one and have identical harmonic properties.
The Flexi-Ohm™ technology is a world first and allows the impedance of the speakers to be easily adjusted from 4 ohms to 128 ohms.
This enables the system load to be optimized for each cinema and the Hypacoustic amplifiers.
Thus all the surrounds are connected in parallel even when there are 10 used on one channel.
This reduces the number of amplifiers required per channel and keeps the sound dynamic and clean.
Another benefit is that the higher individual impedance of the speakers reduces the relative losses in the speaker cables.
Front speakers
The front speakers are much smaller than traditional horn systems. They are designed to be mounted around the screen and thus do not have to work hard to push the sound through the tiny holes of a perforated screen.
This acoustic freedom also enables the tweeters to be smaller and thus have greater high frequency dispersion.
At only 300mm wide the Hypacoustic speakers can be easily placed along the side or above the screen without impacting on the screen size.
The other benefit of this design is that the sound is not reflecting off the back of the perforated screen and is thus extremely clean.
Surrounds
The surrounds are full range and are virtually identical to the fronts.
With a 180º of horizontal uniform frequency response (18Hz - 26kHz) they fill a cinema with full even sound.
With this wide dispersion comes the other benefit that less are required for a given wall.
For example, where a traditional cinema may require 6 - 8 standard surrounds only three Hypacoustic surrounds are needed. The result is attractive and more cost effective as less amplifiers are required.
Subwoofers
There is no single subwoofer used in Hypacoustic.
The Sub channel (or the .1 of 5.1) is connected to the Sub input of ALL speakers as they have two separate inputs.
- One input for the Primary channel.
- One input for the Sub channel.
This is only made possible as the Sub input of the enclosures can be set 64, 96, or 128 ohms.
This equalizes the nodes of the room.
The results are cleaner and deeper bass for all seating positions, and greatly reduced set-up time on installation.
System specifications
(example for 250 seat cinema)
- 18Hz - 26kHz for most seating positions.
- Maximum peak SPL - 140dB @ 300watts RMS per channel.
- Maximum input per channel 1kwatt RMS.
- 10 years unconditional warranty when using Hypacoustic amplifiers.
